Brazilian Correio Universal Phantom Comic At Auction

Newly listed on the Heritage Auctions website is an early release Brazilian Phantom comic, Correio Universal.

Correio Universal (which translates to ‘Universal Mail’) was published by Livraria Civilização in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on the 27th of April 1937. It’s the first comic book published in Brazil to solely feature the Phantom.

Correio Universal contains 96 pages in landscape format, measuring 37.5cm x 27cm, with a Lee Falk and Ray Moore classic Phantom story published, ‘The Singh Brotherhood’. The comic book is numbered 216-A by Livraria Civilização.

The comic book appears complete on the Heritage Auctions website and in relatively good condition for it’s age. Not a great deal of information is offered by Heritage Auctions with the following description found on the listing:

Correio Universal #216A (Livraria Civilizacao, 1937) Condition: PR. Brazillian reprint of Lee Falk and Ray Moore classic Phantom story The Singh Brotherhood published as O-Fantasma Voador. Not listed in Overstreet.

The auction ends in 26 days. I’m sure the comic will find a nice home in an impressive Phantom collection!
