Currently listed on the Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers website, we find the first 5 Phantom comic books published by Frew Publications in Australia.

Originally published and released in 1948 in Australia, we see the first 5 editions going up for auction in 5 separate lots. These editions are 100% original and not the later reproductions also published by Frew Publications.

It’s extremally rare to see such comics not only appear in the one location, available for purchase via auction, but it’s also rare to see them is such high quality for their age, now 74 years old since their released.

The 5 Phantom comics form part of Lloyds Auctioneers and Valuers offering titled, ‘Mostly Unreserved Street Culture Curated (A797)’. The auction is only offered via on-line bidding, due to end on the 30th of April, 2022. As can be seen above, the 5 Phantom comics are Lot 26 through to Lot 30.

The 5 Phantom comics show some wear, which can be expected for comics from this era, including chips, age staining, page yellowing and discoloration/fading. All imperfections are extremally minor, with Phantom comics from the 1940’s usually in much worse condition.

These Phantom comics will certainly be an amazing addition to any collection, and should make the future owner/s very proud to not only own such early Golden Age Phantom comics, but also ones in such beautiful condition.
