Mad Cave Studios, the United States–based publishing house, has listed for pre-order on its website the upcoming release of the comic book omnibus featuring the adventures of the Defenders of the Earth team.

The Defenders of the Earth cartoon series main characters are Flash Gordon, the Phantom, Mandrake the Magician, and Lothar, who are all licensed by King Features Syndicate. Each character brings a unique set of skills and attributes to the team, allowing them to fight evil forces and protect the world from various threats. Flash Gordon is known for his bravery and quick thinking, while The Phantom embodies a legacy of justice and fearlessness. Meanwhile, Mandrake the Magician harnesses his mystical powers to outsmart adversaries, and Lothar, with his incredible strength, often serves as the muscle of the group. Together, they create a formidable alliance that captivates audiences.

Titled “Flash Gordon: Defenders of the Earth”, this new hardcover collection from Mad Cave Studios features comic strip adventures, meticulously crafted by writer by Dan DiDio, illustrated by Jim Calafiore and Alex Sanchez, colored by Juancho Velez and lettered by Carlos M. Mangual. The comic book will be published with 320 full color pages measuring 10.13 Inches x 6.63 Inches with English text.

The Flash Gordon: Defenders of the Earth omnibus will combine the two Defenders of the Earth series created/published by Mad Cave Studios within the one edition. The first series was launched in 2024 titled ‘Defenders of the Earth‘ containing eight editions, with the second series launched in 2025 titled ‘Defenders of the Earth: Dark Destiny‘ containing four editions.

The cover of the Defenders of the Earth omnibus features a vibrant, action-packed composition divided by bold vertical color panels of red, purple, and green. In the foreground, Flash Gordon is engaged in a dynamic sword duel with the villain Ming the Merciless, their blades clashing in a bright burst of light. Hovering behind them are the dramatic, stylized faces of the team’s other iconic heroes: Mandrake the Magician in his signature top hat on the left, The Phantom in purple wearing his mask in the center, and the powerhouse Lothar on the right. The cover art may appear familiar; it was utilized on the front cover of edition number 6A of the first series of Defenders of the Earth by Mad Cave Studios, which was released on the 9th of April 2025.

The description provided in the online advertisement on the contents of the omnibus reads:

The full collection of the modern reimagining of the classic animated series! Although the Flash Gordon: Defenders of the Earth omnibus has been advertised by various booksellers since earlier this year, pre-orders have only recently been opened directly through the Mad Cave Studios website.
