STERANKO AND THE AMERICAN HERO is the title of an art exhibition currently on display at The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, USA.
The exhibition is showcasing over 60 paintings by Jim Steranko, well known for his work on various Marvel comic book characters, including Superman, Captain America, The Hulk, X-Men and many more.
In 1996, Jim Steranko was commissioned by Intrepid to produced a Phantom piece of art which was included in The Phantom Gallery trading card set, released in Australia, as part of the Legends special insert cards, number L2. Containing a highly reflective foil finish, the trading card is two sided, with the Phantom, Diana, Hero and Devil seen on the front, with a biography of Jim Steranko found on the reverse. The art can be seen above.
Running from the 13th of March, through until the 29th of May, 2022, the exhibition showcases Jim’s extremally impressive talent, across a myriad of comic book characters over various mediums.
The artwork featured in The Phantom Gallery Legends trading card is also on show, seen below on display at The Butler Institute of American Art on the left.
