Celebrate India’s Independence Day with Phantom Poster from Shakti Comics

The India based comic book publisher Shakti Comics have a new Phantom themed poster available for purchase. Measuring 19 inches by 26 inches featuring an illustration by Avishek Biswas, the poster is printed on 110 gsm art paper and is posted folded by Shakti Comics.

The poster features the Phantom standing heroically against a cloudy blue sky, holding a large Indian national flag on a gold-tipped flagpole in his right hand. Dressed in his iconic purple suit, striped trunks, black belt with a skull insignia buckle, and eye mask, he is flanked by two fierce Bengal tigers resting and prowling in tall green grass in the foreground. Bold text to the left of the poster reads “HAPPY 80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY”, celebrating Indian Independence Day. The poster can be seen below.

India’s Independence Day, celebrated annually on the 15th of August, marks the country’s liberation from over 200 years of British colonial rule and the establishment of a free nation in 1947. The historic transition following decades of intense struggle, nonviolent resistance, and political campaigning led by figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, was officially proclaimed as the Indian Independence Act came into effect. Today, it is observed as a major national holiday highlighted by flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, and cultural programs across the country. The focal point of the celebrations takes place at the Red Fort in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister hoists the Indian national tricolor flag and delivers an address to the nation.

The Phantom’s legacy as a protector of justice and freedom naturally aligns with Shakti Comics’ patriotic poster as seen above, creating a powerful synergy between an iconic international comic hero and Indian national pride during Independence Day celebrations.
