A new Phantom comic book is now available for pre-order, published by the Sweden based Egmont Story House, due for release later on this year.

Titled “Fantomen: Till Sista Andetaget,” which translates to “The Phantom: To The Last Breath“, this premium hardcover omnibus-style comic book, published by Egmont Story House, is scheduled to contain a minimum of 400 pages in full color. Furthermore, it will be limited to 500 copies, with a release date set for the 10th of August 2026.

These Fantomen comic books have established a yearly tradition for Egmont Story House, which has been publishing an edition in a consistent style since 2022 in Sweden. Each edition has typically been released with a wide selection of complete Phantom comic strip stories, often centered around a common theme.

The description provided in online advertisements for Fantomen: Till Sista Andetaget reads:

The 20th Phantom lies on his deathbed, and it’s up to his son to take over as the walking ghost. Will young Kit Walker live up to the legend, and will he be able to find the man who murdered his father?

The dramatic front cover, featured below, is illustrated by Henrik Sahlström, showing a stern-faced Phantom in his classic Norwegian blue suit walks forward out of a hazy, orange-red cloud of smoke, somberly carrying the limp, lifeless body of his father in his arms. In the fiery, silhouetted background, a solemn Guran with old man Mozz and a crowd of Bandar watches the tragic procession, compounding the emotional weight of this passing-of-the-mantle imagery.

In traditional comic book lore, the Phantom is a legendary, seemingly immortal guardian known as “The Ghost Who Walks“, but in reality, the title is a generational legacy passed down from father to son for over 400 years. The myth of his immortality is carefully preserved because the outside world never sees the transition of power; to the public, he is the same “Man Who Cannot Die“. When a reigning Phantom is killed or reaches his deathbed, his eldest son, who has been raised and trained from youth to inherit the role, must officially take up the mantle by reciting the sacred “Oath of the Skull“. It looks like Fantomen: Till Sista Andetaget will publish comic strip stories centered on this legend.
