Phantom Movie Costume At Auction

Currently listed on the USA based Heritage Auctions website is an original full body costume featured in the Phantom Movie released in 1996.

The Phantom movie was release on the 7th of June 1996, an Australian-American superhero film directed by Simon Wincer, staring Billy Zane as the Phantom. The movie also stars Treat Williams, Kristy Swanson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, James Remar and Patrick McGoohan. The film’s screenplay by Jeffrey Boam is loosely inspired by three Phantom stories, “The Singh Brotherhood”, “The Sky Band” and “The Belt”, with added supernatural elements and several new characters.

The costume offered at auction as described by Heritage Auctions is made up of:

A Purple spandex and rubber lined cowl displayed on a 11″ x 10″ x 7″ production soft polyfoam lifecast of Billy Zane with painted mask.
3-piece purple and black spandex body suit with stitched pipping along the neckline and wrists, handwritten “”B 18” in the waistband, and printed signature tribal designs throughout.
A leather belt with metal skull buckle and 2-matching leather pistol holsters with painted skull motifs.
A black plastic facemask with elastic band.
A pair of black leather boots with zippered fastenings and handwritten “Billy” in the left boot and “CRC 10” in both.

The condition of the costume is described in the auction listing as; Components feature general production age and wear with the black plastic mask displays previous repair along the bridge of the nose.

Also included in the auction are various additional movie memorabilia, described by Heritage Auctions as:

11″ x 6″ printed costume design illustration.
15.5″ x 13.5″ cloth map, studio distressed with inked designs.
9.5″ x 8.5″ cloth message with brown painted inscriptions on the front and a red and black Singh Brotherhood spider’s web on the reverse.
