This edition follows the first edition released in December 2023 by Kult Comics titled ‘The Phantom – The First Four Stories Written by Jean-Yves Mitton‘.

The front cover of ‘The Phantom – The Second Four Stories Written by Jean-Yves Mitton‘ can be seen below, expected to be released around June, 2024.

The description advertising the book reads:

In Germany, Jean-Yves Mitton is best known for his historical series, which are firmly in the Franco-Belgian comic tradition. At the beginning of his successful career, however, he created several French superhero series for Éditions Lug until the family business from Lyon was sold to the Swedish Semic Verlag. Through this takeover, Ulf Granberg, the editor of FANTOMEN magazine, became aware of the exceptional French artist. Through him, Mitton was given the opportunity to draw a total of eight comics for the superhero “The Phantom,” which is extremely popular in Sweden.

For Mitton, these stories marked his creative transition from magazine to album illustrator, which he executed in a unique blend of superhero action and French draftsmanship. Especially with the historical adventures contained in this album, which take place in Paris and Bruges, Jean-Yves Mitton presents himself at the peak of his artistic work by perfectly combining the two seemingly contradictory comic styles.

The uniqueness of this mixture is further underlined for readers by the fact that he created his contributions to the Phantom saga for the black and white magazine FANTOMEN, allowing him to set light and shadow in a way that is rarely seen in superhero comics.

The Phantom – The Second Four Stories Written by Jean-Yves Mitton will also be released with a limited cover, with only 99 editions released worldwide (seen below left). This edition will also be accompanied with two bookplates by Jean-Yves Mitton and Geier (seen below center and right).
