Starlight Foundation Art Exhibition

The first Australian Phantom Art Exhibition was held from the 1st of February until the 22nd of February, 1991. Curator and art director Michael Naggy and artist Peter Kingston held the event at the D.C Art Gallery, 36 Jersey Rd, Woollahra, Sydney, Australia.

More than thirty artists and famous celebrities contributed their art works to the gallery, with all proceeds being donated to the Starlight Foundation of Australia (their mission; delivering happiness to seriously ill children).

Frew Publications publisher, Jim Shepherd donated original artwork from its archives and multiple Phantom collectibles from around the world. Jim Shepherd dubbed 1991 as the “Year of the Phantom” with the publishing of its first annual Phantom comic book, issue number 971.

The opening evening was an invitation only black tie event: which attracted celebrities, TV personalities and even politicians. All tickets sales were donated to the Starlight Foundation of Australia.

Hundreds of Phantom fans attended the event over the 3 week exhibition and with multiple newspaper articles, raised exposure of both the Phantom and the Starlight Foundation.
