L’Action Catholique was a daily newspaper (except Sunday’s) founded in Quebec, Canada on the 21st of December, 1907. The newspaper was initially titled L’Action Sociale, but renamed to L’Action Catholique on the 9th of June, 1915. It printed it’s last newspaper on the 15th of August, 1962 under the title of L’Action Catholique.
L’Action Catholique was printed in the French language in black and white.
The first Phantom comic strip appeared on the 27th of May, 1939 (as seen below). The first Phantom story printed was ‘The Slave Traders’, however the full story wasn’t printed, just the last few comic strip dailies. ‘The Mysterious Girl’ was the next story to follow.
The Phantom makes his first appearance on the 30th of May, 1939 (see below).
Leading up to the first appearance of the Phantom on the 30th of May 1939, 3 advertisement were printed by L’Action Catholique.
The first advertisement was printed on the 25th of May, 1939.
The second advertisement was printed on the 26th of May, 1939.
And lastly, the third advertisement was printed on the 27th of May, 1939.
L’Action Catholique printed 35 Phantom daily comic strip stories in total, between 1939 and 1952.
