Cavalcade of American Comics was published by Greater Buffalo Press, Inc in-conjunction with the Newspaper Comics Council in USA. 2 versions of this publication were released, first in 1963, then a revised edition in 1970. They were a promotional inclusion in several newspapers printed in USA.
The tabloid style publication aims to present the history of comic strips, dating from 1896 to 1963. Various comic strip licence holders took part in this publications, including King Features Syndicate.
The Phantom made an appearance in both publications, amongst various other comic strip characters.
1st Version
Released in 1963 and running for 16 pages, the first edition was printed in full color and measures 10.75 inches x 13 inches.
The Phantom isn’t found on the cover, but an image is present within.



2nd Version
Released in 1970 and running for 16 pages, the second edition was printed in full color and measures 10.75 inches x 13 inches.
The Phantom is found on the back cover at the top, plus an image is present within.



Comics Exhibit
As seen on the cover of the first edition, the Cavalcade of American Comics newspaper supplement was also used to promote the Cavalcade of American Comics Exhibit in New York, USA on October, 1963.
The Cavalcade of American Comics Exhibit ran for several years and was taken from location to location.

The publication was given to those attending the exhibit. As seen below, an attachment was placed to the cover of some editions, notify the public of what to expect at the event.


The Cavalcade of American Comics Exhibit was also reported in newspapers, as seen below in the Rapid City Journal newspaper, 1st May, 1966. The exhibit making an appearance at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C.
