Playboy Magazine #98

The Phantom makes an appearance in Playboy Magazine number 98, published by Editora Abril in Brazil in 1983.


Publisher ‘Editora Abril’ is a major Brazilian publisher and printing company and one of the largest media holdings in Latin America. The publishing house was founded in 1950 by Victor Civita in São Paulo and is now part of ‘Grupo Abril’. Editora Abril published its first title, Donald Duck, in Brazil called Pato Donald.

In addition, they published titles such as AnaMaria, Tititi, Minha Novela, Sou+Eu!, Quatro Rodas, Veja, Veja Rio, Veja São Paulo, Nova, Placar, Claudia, Boa Forma, Manequim and Exame, as well as the Brazilian editions of Disney comics, Cosmopolitan, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Runner’s World and Playboy.


The Brazilian edition of Playboy is a franchise of the Playboy Magazine. Established in 1975 through 2015 by Editora Abril, it was the fourth international version of the magazine, following Germany, Italy and France.

Playboy Magazine edition number 98 contains 168 page and features a male dressed in Superhero costumes, including the Phantom (found on both the front cover and within the magazine), Mandrake the Magician and Superman, alongside Playboy bunnies.
