The Phantom makes an appearance in MAD Magazine number 210, published by E.C Publications, Inc. in USA in October 1979.

The MAD Magazine published as part of the regular series contains 52 black and white pages. It includes a 3 page parody section titled ‘Don Martin’s Guide to Some Very Obscure Comics Sound Effects’, written by Don Edwing and illustrated by Don Martin.

The Phantom appears in 1 of the panels, with the sound effect used being that of the Phantom closing his zipper on his costume. This panel can be seen below.
