Bild & Bubbla

Bild & Bubbla (which translates to Image & Bubble) is a magazine series published by Seriefrämjandet since 1968. The magazine started off as a Fanzine published by Henri Holmgren, Janne Lundström and Sture Hegerfors. Initially titled ‘THUD’ before evolving into a magazine and renamed to Bild & Bubbla commencing from edition number 35 published in 1977.

The first edition to be published under the Bild & Bubbla name, edition number 35 can be seen below, with Donald Duck featured on the cover.

Bild & Bubbla focuses on publishing content from within the comic book industry, including creator interviews, historical information, comic reviews, comic strips and much more. The magazine is still in publication to this day, with 4 editions released per year. Over 234 editions have been issued under the Bild & Bubbla name.

The Phantom has appeared both within and on the covers of several Bild & Bubbla editions.

Edition number 43 in the series (edition number 1 for that year) was published in 1979 containing 32 pages measuring 21cm x 26cm. It contains the Phantom on the cover illustrated by Jan Lööf.

Edition number 59 in the series (edition number 4 for that year) was published in 1982 containing 44 pages measuring 21cm x 29.7cm. It contains the Phantom on the cover, plus an article on Wilson McCoy within.

Edition number 150 in the series (edition number 3 for that year) was published in 2000 containing 150 pages measuring 21cm x 27.8cm. It contains the Phantom on the cover illustrated by Patrik Norrman, plus a variety of articles on the Phantom including his films and his appearance in Norway. Interviews with Ulf Granberg, Bill Sienkiewicz and Linnéa Krig are also published.

Edition number 217 in the series (edition number 4 for that year) was published in 2018. This special edition marks the 50th anniversary since commencing publication in 1968.

Edition number 222 in the series (edition number 1 for that year) was published in 2020. Although the Phantom isn’t featured on the cover, an article on the Phantoms presence in Australia is found within.
