The Marvel Bumper Comic series was published by Marvel UK in the United Kingdom. The series was published between October 1988 through till July 1989, running for 31 editions. The comic books were initially published fortnightly, then weekly commencing with number 14. They contain 31 full color pages and measure 21cm x 28cm.

Each edition of The Marvel Bumper Comic contained a variety of licensed strips, most of which had already been published in other Marvel UK editions. These include Doctor Who, Defenders of the Earth, Hulk, Spider-Man, The Real Ghostbusters, Scooby Doo, Count Duckula, ThunderCats, Tom & Jerry, William Tell, Lew Stringer’s Combat Colin and Alf.

The Marvel Bumper Comic books also contained feature articles along with various short features on movies and pop stars.

The Phantom made an appearance in this series as it contains Defenders of the Earth comic strips in editions 13, 14 and 18 thru to 29. Of the 31 editions published, we see the Phantom appear on 3 covers, numbers 13, 22 and 25.

Edition number 18 of The Marvel Bumper Comic series contains a Defenders of the Earth poster in the centerfold.

In 1988, The Marvel Bumper Comic Holiday Special was published.
