Serietidningen (which translates to The Comic Magazine) is a supplement series published by Semic Press in Sweden in 1987. The series which contains 8 editions was released with the Swedish pop magazine ‘Tracks’ as a complimentary giveaway publication.
A diverse array of comic strip narratives was included in each edition, showcasing a multitude of comic strip characters such as the Phantom, Beetle Bailey, 91:an, Hägar the Horrible, Hi and Lois, B.C., The Wizard of Id, Calvin and Hobbes, Swamp, Captain Vincible, Balders Bar, Boes, The Far Side, Änglarna and Mafalda.
Each supplement contains 16 color and black-and-white pages measuring 17cm x 26cm. A page per edition was dedicated to one comic strip character, with the story continuing from edition to edition. The Phantom is featured within all 8 editions and is found on the cover of 4 editions.

The exterior back cover of the inaugural edition prominently displays the Phantom, alongside the title of the story ‘Guldormen’, which refers to the story ‘The Secret of the Golden Snake’. This story is written by Idi Kharelli and Ed Redno, is illustrated by Kari Leppänen and was first published in Sweden in Fantomen comic book number 5 in 1985.

Only the first eight pages of the story were published in the Serietidningen series before the magazine’s cancellation.
