Planeta DeAgostini

El Hombre Enmascarado comic books were published by Editorial Planeta-DeAgostini S.A in Barcelona, Spain in 2014. The series contains 4 hardcover album style comic books all featuring classic daily newspaper comic strips of the Phantom.


Editorial Planeta-DeAgostini was established in Barcelona, Spain in 1985. It’s a Hispano-Italian publisher and a subsidiary of Grupo Planeta and De Agostini specializing in collectable books, sold periodically throughout newsstands and bookstores.

The publishers headquarters are in Barcelona, Spain and distribute comic books and manga under the name Planeta DeAgostini Comics throughout Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Spain and Uruguay.

The Publishing house is currently owned by Planeta Corporación, SRL De Agostini which continues to release new publications to this day.


The El Hombre Enmascarado comic books contain 128 black and white pages in landscape format measuring 25cm x 30cm in Spanish text. The series reprinted classic Lee Falk and Ray Moore daily Phantom newspaper comic strips, containing several comic strip stories in the one edition, with 3 daily strips printed per page.

The comic book series commenced with the first Phantom daily newspaper comic strip from 1937 in edition 1 and ended with the twelfth Phantom daily newspaper comic strip from 1940 in edition 4.

  • Edition 1 – titled ‘La Hermandad De Los Singh’ contains the stories ‘The Singh Brotherhood’ and ‘The Sky Band’.
  • Edition 2 – titled ‘Los Buscadores De Diamantes’ contains the stories ‘War in the Jungle, ‘Little Toma’ and ‘The Prisoner of the Himalayas’.
  • Edition 3 – titled ‘Aventure En Argel’ contains the stories ‘Adventure in Algiers’, ‘The Shark’s Nest’, ‘Fishers of Pearls’ and ‘The Slave Traders’.
  • Edition 4 – titled ‘La Chica Misteriosa’ contains the stories ‘The Mysterious Girl’, ‘The Golden Circle’ and ‘The Sea Horse’.
