O Globo

O Globo is a Brazilian newspaper that published Phantom daily strip from 1940 to 1995 in black and white.

O Globo (part of Organizações Globo media) was founded in 1925 and is the major daily newspaper in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. O Globo started publishing comics with O Globo Juvenil (launched in 1937) and Gibi (1939) and on January 22nd 1940, they commenced publishing daily newspaper strips of the Phantom.

In 1952 a publishing house named Rio Gráfica e Editora (abbreviated to RGE), was founded. It was the magazine arm of O Globo. A Phantom magazine, titled Fantasma Magazine was launched in 1953. With the acquisition by Rio Gráfica e Editora of Editora Globo in 1986, a book publishing company originally founded in 1883 in Porto Alegre, Rio Gráfica e Editora became Editora Globo. Phantom magazines continued being published until 1992.
