L’Illustrazione dei Ragazzi

L’Illustrazione dei Ragazzi (which translates to ‘The Illustration of Children’) is a comic book series published by Società Editrice A.P.E. in Rome, Italy. The publication ran from the 26th of July, 1945 until the 16th of December 1946 with only 17 editions released.

The comic books vary in size, the first 8 editions measure 25cm x 35cm and edition number 9 onwards measure 17.5cm x 24.5cm. They also contain a mix of color and black and white print, generally containing 8 pages.

This series wasn’t only dedicated to the Phantom, with other comic characters also published, including Tarzan, The Captain and the Kids, Captain Easy, Ella Cinders, Panzan, Nancy, Dick Tracey, Tom Rex, Terry and the Pirates and Shock Gibson.

The first 8 editions contained a mix of comic strips and characters as noted above. The last 9 editions were monographic issues, dedicated to the 1 comic character, including Disney, Amazing Man, Tarzan and the Phantom. The last 5 editions in the series bear no edition number.

The Phantom appears in only 3 editions, numbers 11, 13 and 16, with the Phantom story ‘The Sky Band’ featured. See editions 11 and 16 below.
