Grandes Aventuras Do Fantasma

Grandes Aventuras Do Fantasma (which translates to Great Adventures of the Phantom), is a comic book published by Mythos Editora in Brazil in July 2022. The comic book features ten previously unpublished Italian Phantom comic strip stories, which were translated into Portuguese for local readers.

Founded in 1996 by Hélcio de Carvalho and Dorival Vitor Lopes, Mythos Editora has established itself as a cornerstone of the Brazilian comic book industry. The publisher gained significant recognition by becoming the primary home for Bonelli Comics in Brazil, taking over the mantle of legendary titles like Tex, Zagor, and Dylan Dog. By focusing on these Italian classics, Mythos cultivated a dedicated fanbase of “Bonellianos,” ensuring that these long-running Western and horror series remained staples on Brazilian newsstands and bookshelves for decades.

Beyond its Italian catalog, Mythos is famously known for its partnership with the British powerhouse 2000 AD. This collaboration brought the gritty, satirical world of Judge Dredd to Brazilian readers in high-quality formats. Additionally, the publisher has a long history of handling major American licenses, including Dark Horse Comics and DC Comics (often via Panini). This diverse portfolio allowed them to publish iconic franchises such as Hellboy, Conan the Barbarian, and various Star Wars titles, positioning Mythos as a versatile curator of both mainstream hits and cult underground favorites.

In recent years, Mythos has successfully transitioned from traditional newsstand “pocket” editions to the “Gold Edition” and hardcover markets. This shift reflects a maturing Brazilian comic scene where collectors prioritize production value and durability. By releasing “Omnibus” style volumes and specialized graphic novels, Mythos has managed to preserve the legacy of older characters while appealing to modern aesthetic standards. Their resilience in a shifting digital landscape proves their deep understanding of the “collector’s soul” in Brazil.

MASKED MAN:

THE ITALIAN GHOST

Created by the legendary Lee Falk in the late 1930s, and quickly becoming a cultural phenomenon, The Phantom soon conquered the world and became a global icon. To meet the demand, numerous publishers around the globe began creating their own stories of the Ghost Who Walks. One of them was the Italian publisher Fratelli Spada, which created hundreds of comics featuring the Hero of Bangalla between the 1960s and 1970s. Now, Mythos Editora proudly presents ten unpublished adventures developed in Italy, which helped perpetuate the legend of…

THE MAN WHO CANNOT DIE!
