Enciclopedia Dei Fumetti

Enciclopedia Dei Fumetti is published by GC Sansoni Editore in Florence, Italy in 1970. The series contains 40 comic books, which were released on a weekly basis, featuring a large number of comic book characters, including Mandrake the Magician, Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, Popeye, Flash Gordon, Dick Tracy, Tarzan and many more.

Enciclopedia Dei Fumetti edition number 2 features the Phantom on the cover, containing 36 color pages measuring 24cm x 30.5cm, released on the 19th of March 1970. Published across editions number 2 and number 3, the Lee Falk and Ray More classic story, ‘Little Toma’ is found within. Below is edition number 2, front and back cover, featuring the Phantom on the cover.

The second part of ‘Little Toma’ is found in edition number 3, which features Mandrake the Magician on the cover, as can be seen below.

Two storage folders were released by the publisher, GC Sansoni Editore, designed to house 20 Enciclopedia Dei Fumetti comic books per folder, a total of 40 across the two folders. The outside and internal of the storage folders can be seen below.

The Phantom also makes an appearance on a variety of Enciclopedia Dei Fumetti back covers, in the form of an advertisement promoting the series. Below we see edition number 4, with Popeye on the front cover and an advertisement featuring the Phantom in his Italian red costume on the back.
