Det Første Fantomet (translating to ‘The First Phantom’) was published by Semic/Nordisk Forlag A/S in Norway in 1981. Fully licensed by King Features Syndicate, the softcover comic book measures 21cm x 27.5cm and contains 84 black and white internal pages. The front and back covers can be seen below, with the front cover illustrated by Rolf Gohs.

The title of the story found within the comic book can be found on the cover, ‘Fången i Himalaya’, which translates to ‘The Prisoner of the Himalayas’. The Prisoner of the Himalayas is the Lee Falk and Ray Moore Phantom story first published in newspapers in 1938.
It also features an article about the history of the Phantom strip, written by Ebbe Zetterstad titled ‘Det Første Fantomet’.

A sample of internal pages can be seen below.

Det Første Fantomet is based on the Phantom comic book published by Nostalgia Press in USA in 1969, as part of ‘The Golden Age Of The Comics’ series.

This publication stands out as a special album, separate from the regular Fantomet comic book series that Semic/Nordisk Forlag A/S also published in Norway. It aimed to provide readers with an insight into the Phantom’s early adventures and history.
