Colección Heroes Modernos Presenta El Hombre Enmascarado (which translates to Modern Heroes Collection Presents The Phantom) is a series published by Editorial Dólar in Madrid, Spain from 1958 thru until 1959. 60 editions were published in the series, bearing the title ‘El Hombre Enmascarado’ (the Phantoms name in Spain) and were released on a weekly basis. Editorial Dólar published three comic book series featuring the Phantom under the ‘Colección Heroes Modernos’ title, this series being the first of those three.
Colección Heroes Modernos were published in landscape format, measuring 29.5cm x 20cm, containing 16 black and white pages with matt color only seen on the outside covers. The first 4 editions in the series are titled ‘Colección Heroes Modernos El Hombre Enmascarado’ and only feature Phantom comic strips. From edition number 5 thru till number 60, the title ‘Colección Heroes Modernos Presenta El Hombre Enmascarado’ is printed, with Flash Gordon comic strips found alongside the Phantom comic strips in these editions. The 56 editions also contain ‘Y Flash Gordon’ wording on the front covers.

Editorial Dólar published other comic book characters under the ‘Colección Heroes Modernos Presenta’ title in separate comic book series, including Mandrake the Magician, Flash Gordon, Jorge and Fernando, Rip Kirby, Julieta Jones and Big Ben Bolt, These characters were cross promoted throughout their respective comic book series. From 1961 thru till 1962, an album series was released titled ‘Album de Lujo’, which translates to ‘Luxury Album’. The album series is made up of 20 editions containing approximately 88 pages measuring 20cm x 30cm. The contents being unsold copies from the Colección Heroes Modernos Presenta El Hombre Enmascarado regular series seen above, issued in a uniquely designed cover. From 4 to 5 editions from the regular series are found in each album.

Published by Editorial Dólar in 1961 is a variant to album number 1 seen above, containing the same contents. It’s titled ‘Colección De El Hombre Enmascarado’ and contains 84 black and white pages measuring 20cm x 30cm. The front and back cover can be seen below.


Also seen in the advertisement above is a publication titled ‘Libro de Oro’, which translates to ‘Golden Book’. Libro de Oro were published by Editorial Dólar in 1962, containing 456 black and white pages measuring 20cm x 30cm.
