Avventure Americane (which translates to American Adventures) is the title of a series of comic books published by Fratelli Spada in Italy between 1962 and 1980.
Fratelli Spada, which translates to Spada Brothers, was established by Giuseppe Spada in Rome, Italy in 1957. Fratelli Spade published magazines, books and comic books.
The Fratelli Spada comic book arm focused on featuring comic characters from America, including the Phantom, Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician, Prince Valiant, Rip Kirby and Secret Agent X-9.
In 2012, Fratelli Spade ceased operating.
Avventure Americane Phantom comics (or L’Uomo Mascherato as he’s know in Italy) changed in appearance over the 18 years that they were published by Fratelli Spade, with 4 separate series released under this title. Each of the 4 series start with an edition number 1, with format and design changes clearly seen on both the front covers and within the comic. The title of Avventure Americane remained across all series.
