ART:9

Phantom – Die Klassiker (which translates to Phantom – The Classics) is a series of comic books published by ART:9 in Austria commencing in August 2025. The comic book collection is a high-quality re-issue of the Phantom’s initial adventures published in newspapers in the 1930s, with stories featured written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Ray Moore. The comic books are compiled by Austrian filmmaker and musician Michael J. Keplinger.


The Austrian publisher ART:9 is an edition of proLIBRIS VerlagsgesmbH. The company is based in Austria, and its managing director is Claudia Keplinger. Their publications include a diverse range of subjects, from art books to works on criminology.


Phantom – Die Klassiker comic books are published with a softcover containing from black and white internal pages measuring 29.7cm x 21cm. Although produced in Austria, the comic book series contains German text aimed at German readers and collectors, with the series marking the first time these classic stories are available in German text. They’ve been meticulously translation from English and contain new lettering.

Issue #1 – The Singh Brotherhood

This edition contains 120 pages publishing the classic Phantom story ‘The Singh Brotherhood‘, written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Ray Moore, originally published in newspapers from the 17th of February 1936 thru till the 7th of November 1936. Issue #2 – The Sky Band & War In The Jungle

This edition contains 143 pages publishing two classic Phantom stories both written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Ray Moore. The first story published within is titled ‘The Sky Band‘, originally published in newspapers from the 9th of November 1936 thru till the 10th of April 1937. The second story is titled ‘War In The Jungle‘ (known also as ‘The Diamond Hunters‘), originally published in newspapers from the 12th of April 1937 thru till the 18th of September 1937. Issue #3 – Little Toma & The Prisoner of the Himalayas & Adventure in Algiers

This edition contains 145 pages publishing three classic Phantom stories all written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Ray Moore. The first story published within is titled ‘Little Toma‘, originally published in newspapers from the 20th of September 1937 thru till the 5th of February 1938. The second story is titled ‘The Prisoner of the Himalayas‘, originally published in newspapers from the 7th of February 1938 thru till the 18th of June 1938. The third story is titled ‘Adventure in Algiers‘, originally published in newspapers from the 20th of June 1938 thru till the 23rd of July 1938. Issue #4 – The Shark’s Nest & Fishers of Pearls & The Slave Traders

This editions contain 136 pages publishing three classic Phantom stories all written by Lee Falk and illustrated by Ray Moore. The first story published within is titled ‘The Shark’s Nest‘, originally published in newspapers from the 25th of July 1987 thru till the 5th of November 1938. The second story is titled ‘Fishers of Pearls‘, originally published in newspapers from the 7th of November 1938 thru till the 28th of January 1939. The third story is titled ‘The Slave Traders‘, originally published in newspapers from the 30th of January 1939 thru till the 6th of May 1939.
