Almanaque do O Globo Juvenil (translating to Youth Globe Almanac) is a series published by O Globo in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil between 1941 and 1963. A total of 26 comic books were published over this 23 year period.
Almanaque do O Globo Juvenil were released as an annual Christmas special publication to the Gibi comic book series, also published by O Globo. Each edition was released in December, with the year printed on the cover reflecting the following year.
The size of the comics varied as the series was released, with editions measuring from 26cm x 36cm at the beginning of the series, to 17.5cm x 26cm towards the end of the series.
Internal pages were published in a mix of color and black and white, with all hard covers published in color. Page length for each comic book varied from 100 pages to 200 pages.
Almanaque do O Globo Juvenil didn’t only feature the Phantom, but other comic book characters such as Prince Valiant, Zorro, Popeye, Mandrake the Magician, Little King, Superman, Flash Gordon and more. Each annual also contains advertisements, text stories and feature articles.
Phantom comic strips appeared in 6 editions (1952, 1953, 1956-1959), with the Phantom appearing on 7 of the covers (1941, 1952, 1953, 1956-1959).
