The Albo Furore comic book series was published by Edizioni Aurelia in Rome, Italy from January 1953 thru till February 1954. The series contains a total of 20 editions publishing a variety of comic strip stories per edition, featuring various characters including the Phantom, Mandrake the Magician, Johnny Hazard, Cisco Kid, The Lone Ranger, Pete the Tramp, Hubert and Jungle Jim.
Albo Furore comic books were published on a weekly basis, with each edition containing 28 to 32 pages in a mix of color and black and white pages with color covers measuring 17cm x 24cm. The first 8 editions contain the text ‘Le Avventura Dei 4 Più Famosi Personaggi Americani’ on the header of the front covers, which translates to ‘The Adventures of the 4 Most Famous American Characters’. An edition number is also found on all front covers.
The Phantom is prominently displayed on the front covers of 17 out of the 20 editions, presented alongside an array of other characters, with the Phantom seen in his distinctive Italian red costume. Edition number 17 exclusively depicts the Phantom on the front cover. All 20 front covers in the series can be seen below,

Unsold copies of the regular series were bound together and sold under the title of ‘Supplemento Albo Furore’ in 1954, which comprised of four album-style comic books. These four editions can be seen below, with the Phantom seen on 3 of the 4 covers, with cover art taken from the regular series.




Edizioni Aurelia would go on to release two further albums titled ‘Albo Elefante’ which solely featured Flash Gordon, both published in 1954. The front and back covers of these two editions can be seen below.
