Videomagia Estadão VHS

The Videomagia Estadão VHS collection is a promotional series launched by newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo (often referred to as Estadão) in Brazil during the mid-to-late 1990s. The collection features a diverse mix of licensed international cartoons and live-action episodes, dubbed in Portuguese, across 17 VHS tapes. The tapes were typically sold at newsstands alongside the Sunday edition of the newspaper for a discounted price.

The Defenders of the Earth (Os Defensores da Terra) appearances in the Videomagia Estadão collection consist of two volumes, numbered 7 and 15, which brought the 1986 animated crossover series to Brazilian audiences through newspaper distribution. These editions feature the iconic team-up of King Features Syndicate heroes, Flash Gordon, The Phantom, Mandrake the Magician, and Lothar, as they battle the villainous Ming the Merciless.

Each of the Videomagia Estadão VHS was provided in a full color cardboard paper slip case open at the top, with the black VHS found within void of a sticker label. Each volume contains a running time of approximately 20 to 25 minutes. The two Defenders of the Earth VHS volumes can be seen below.

A Videomagia Estadão information magazine was accompanied with each VHS edition, printed in full color measuring 13.5cm x 20.5cm, with each edition containing a mini-poster in the centerfold.
