Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum (which translates to The Phantom Car Album) was released by Serieförlaget in Sweden in 1953. Found throughout select Fantomen comics, usually printed on the back cover of the comic book, a series of cut-out pages are found of car illustrations. Each sheet has an image of a car on the front and information about the car featured on the back, with a total of 75 pages found in the series.

Readers are first made aware of the upcoming Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum series in Fantomen comic book number 10 published in 1953. The series is promoted on the back cover of this edition, as can be seen below.

Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum pages were first released on the back cover of Fantomen comic book number 11, published in 1953. The front cover of this edition can be seen below.

This first edition came with the first 2 Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum pages from the series, which are located on the back cover of the comic book. Below we see Fantomen comic book number 13 published in 1953 containing numbers 5 and 6 on the back cover. The inside cover, the back of the Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum provides us with information of the car model found on the opposite side.

The front of the Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum pages are printed in color, with black and white printed on the back, designed to be cut out of the comic book. Some comic books contain 2 car images to add to the car series collection, whilst other comic books only came with the one image.

An album to house the 75 Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum pages was released by Serieförlaget named ‘Fantomens Bilsamlarparm’, which translates to ‘The Phantoms Car Collector’s Folder’. After the Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum pages are removed from the Fantomen comic book, they’re to be hole-punched and inserted into the album via 2 metal screws in the spine, capable of housing all 75 pages in the series.

These albums were advertised in several Fantomen comic books. Above we see an advertisement found in Fantomen edition number 16, published in 1955 on the inside back cover. A small payment was required to be sent to the publisher with the coupon provided, before an album was posted.

The final Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum page was printed on the back cover of Fantomen edition number 16, published in 1955, containing page number 75.

A pin set was released to accompany the Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum series which feature car logos of the pages found in the series. Below we see an advertisement on the back cover of Fantomen comic book number 19 published in 1955. A small payment was required to be posted to ‘Till Firma Odk’, accompanied by a coupon, before the desired pin was provided.

The Serietidningen Fantomens Bilalbum series was also advertised where Fantomen comic books were sold. Below we see a poster promoting the series, making reference to Fantomen comic book number 5 published in 1954. In this comic book, the publisher notifies readers that the album to house the 75 pages is in production and will be offered for purchase soon.
