RGE (Rio Gráfica E Editora) located in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, a subsidiary of ‘Grupo Globo’ was founded by Roberto Marinho in 1952, ceasing operations in 1986. For over 35 years RGE published a multitude of comic books, magazines and collectible pop culture related collectibles.
Between 1964 thru to 1967, 5 separate sets of sticker giveaways were offered by RGE, with a token ’emblem’ on the front cover of it’s various publications, including Fantasma Magazine. We see 4 unique token ’emblems’ containing 4 bold numbers – 25, 30, 40 and 50.
There were a total of 25 different comic book titles with select issues that contained the ’emblem’ on the cover. These are Fantasma, Aguia Negra, Anjo, Bang-Bang, Flash Gordon, Jeronimo, Robin Hood, Zeze, Bructu, Bufalo Bill, Capitao Marvel, Cavaleiro Fantasma, Don Chicote, Jack Marlin, Jim Das Selva, Pafuncio, Rocky Lane, Texas Kid, Campeoes Do Oeste, Cavalero Negro, Flecha Ligeira, Gugu, Mandrake, Nick Holmes and Recruta Zero.
In order to acquire any of the stickers offered over the 5 giveaway sets, the appropriate number of tokens would need to be cut from the comic cover and mailed in to the RGE main office (Rio Gráfica e Editora – Rua hapire 1 209 – Rio Comprido c), with a return address envelope. The required token value are noted in individual advertisements.

The stickers on offer are polychrome resin stickers, not your traditional sticker with adhesive on the reverse of the image, but were re-usable and only required moisture on the reverse-side to affix to a surface.
Not all of the 5 sticker sets contained Phantom stickers, his image appeared on 2 of the sets for advertisement purposes only, with 3 of the sticker sets featuring the Phantom. Following is a list of the 5 sticker sets:
- 1st RGE Sticker Set – Token Emblem 30 – On comic covers number 92 thru to 98, advertisement only appearing in comics number 93, 94 and 95.
- 2nd RGE Sticker Set – Token Emblem 25 – On comic covers number 99 thru to 107, advertisement only appeared in comic number 99 and the 1966 Fantasma Almanque De Ferias Do Magazine. The Phantom only appears in the advertisement, with no sticker featuring the Phantom on offer.
- 3rd RGE Sticker Set – Token Emblem 25 – On comic covers number 108 thru to 116, advertisement only appeared in comic number 108.
- 4th RGE Sticker Set – Token Emblem 50 – On comic covers number 118 and 125, advertisement appearing in comic number 118.
- 5th RGE Sticker Set – Token Emblem 40 – The Phantom only appears in the advertisement, with no sticker featuring the Phantom on offer.
1st RGE Sticker Set
In Fantasma Magazine comic book issue number 93 thru to 95, published in Brazil in 1964-1966, we see an advertisement for a Phantom sticker, amongst other characters. Token emblem 30 can be found on comic covers number 92 thru to 98.

2nd RGE Sticker Set
In Fantasma Magazine comic book issue number 99 and in Fantasma Almanque De Ferias Do Magazine, published in Brazil in 1966-1967, we see an advertisement featuring the Phantom, however no sticker featuring the Phantom is on offer. Token emblem 25 can be found on comic covers number 99 thru to 107.

3rd RGE Sticker Set
In Fantasma Magazine comic book issue number 108, published in Brazil in 1965-1967, we see an advertisement for a ‘Free’ comedic Phantom sticker. Token emblem 25 can be found on comic covers number 108 thru to 116.

4th RGE Sticker Set
In Fantasma Magazine comic book issue number 118, published in Brazil in 1966-1967, we see an advertisement for a ‘Super Plastico’s’ sticker set, with the Phantom sticker featuring in the advertisement. Token emblem 50 can be found on comic covers number 118 and 125.

5th RGE Sticker Set
In various RGE comic books, published in Brazil in 1965-1967, we see an advertisement for a ‘Vintage Vehicles’ sticker set, we see an advertisement featuring the Phantom, however no sticker featuring the Phantom is on offer. Token emblem 40 can be found on the comic cover.
