The Phantom Hang-Up was produced by RGE (Rio Gráfica E Editora) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1976. The posable cut-out of the Phantom comes is 9 separate pieces and measures 1.7meters in height when assembled.
RGE (Rio Gráfica E Editora) located in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, a subsidiary of ‘Grupo Globo’ was founded by Roberto Marinho in 1952, ceasing operations in 1986. For over 35 years RGE published a multitude of comic books, magazines and collectible pop culture related collectibles.
We see the Phantom Hang-Up below, with Walmir Amaral de Oliveira providing the art. The Phantom is seen in the colors as published in Brazil. Each section comes with pre-punched holes to easily assemble the Phantom and hang up on your wall at home.




The Phantom Hang-Up could either be purchased from retail stores/newsagents or via mail-order direct from RGE. Below we see the cardboard card that the Hang-Up came with, enclosed in plastic packaging. It’s double sided and also contains a Phantom story on the reverse.

The Phantom Hang-Up was advertised in various Fantasma comic books published by RGE, generally on the outside back cover, at a cost of Cr$40,00. If purchased direct from RGE, the Hang-Up was posted in a blue 2-sided folder by RGE, with various sections folded to fit in the mailing envelope. Below we see an example of the advertisement on the back cover of Fantasma Especial No.3.
