The Phantom comic book promotional sticker was used in Papua New Guinea in 1976. The sticker was used by comic book retail outlets to promote the Phantom comic.
The Phantom comic book promotional sticker measures 11” x 4.5”, with Pidgin English text printed with a two color gloss finish. The sticker translates to ‘Phantom Comics – On Sale Here New Issue Every Fortnight’.
An English version was also produced.
It’s believed that in 1976, Papua New Guinea became an official addition to the Australian Phantom license issued by King Features Syndicate to Frew Publications. Only 2 Phantom comics were issued in Papua New Guinea, by Wantok Publications.
