The Plastic Ruler was released by King Features Syndicate in New York, USA in 1978. The ruler was a free giveaway around Christmas time to business partners and agents of King Features Syndicate.

The Plastic Ruler measures 50cm in length and is made of clear see-through plastic. The rear side of the ruler is printed with the orange shapes used for the background of the comic book characters running along the top center of the ruler.

A total of 14 comic book characters are found on the ruler, including Popeye, Prince Valiant, Archie, Snuffy Smith, Beetle Bailey, Dagwood, Steve Canyon, Blondie and Flash Gordon. The Phantom is also featured.

As Winnie-the-Pooh is also found on the ruler, we see two copy right syndications present on the ruler, King Features Syndicate and W.D.P (Walt Disney Productions) which is one of only a few known example between these two companies.

On the top of the ruler, in the center, we also see the wording ‘King Features Syndicate’.
