The Defenders of the Earth Pizza Hut Tray Liner was produced by Pizza Hut in New Zealand in 1991. It was produced to advertise a contest, allowing the entrant to win a Panasonic TV and Video Player set.
Tray Liners are a sheet of paper designed to sit on top of your food tray, normally utilized by fast food restaurants. They sit underneath your food items to catch grease, dressing, condiments, and other spills while keeping the tray clean. Tray Liners are designed to be used once, then thrown away after the tray is returned for re-use by the restaurant.

The Defenders of the Earth Pizza Hut Tray Liner was used within Pizza Hut restaurant by diners, asking the entrant to the contest to answer 2 questions, before completing your name, address and phone number. The Tray Liner was then left with restaurant staff, to go into the draw to win a Panasonic 14inch Color Television and Video Player.
Entry into the contest closed on the 1st of June, 1991.
