Pewter Phantom Belt Buckle

The Pewter Phantom Belt Buckle were produced by Roadshow Variety Products in USA in 1995. Roadshow Variety Products, an American importer and distributor known for producing various belt buckles in the 1990s replicated the Phantom Belt Buckle originally released by Bandit Belts in Australia in 1989. The belt buckle is fully licensed by King Features Syndicate.

Following it’s release in the US, the Pewter Phantom Belt Buckle was later distributed in Australia, first advertised in 1999 on the inside of Australian Frew Publications Phantom comic book edition number 1239. Below we see the advertisement by The Phantom Zone (a comics and collectibles store) based in NSW, Australia featuring a mail away coupon to purchase the two available versions of the belt buckle.

The Pewter Phantom Belt Buckle came in two distinct versions one featuring a flat pewter finish, and another boasting a high-gloss black enamel/cloisonné finish. Both are triangular in shape measuring 8cm wide x 6.5cm tall featuring a profile image of the Phantom surrounded by the Skull and Good Marks. Each belt buckle contains a unique edition number printed at the rear, alongside trademark and manufacture information.

Unlike the limited-edition Phantom Buckle and Belt set produced by Bandit Belts buckle in Australia, which were restricted to 2,500 units, the versions produced by Roadshow Variety Products as seen above had a larger production run of at least 5000. They were sold throughout the US and Australia in gift/memorabilia outlets and also via mail away coupons.

The Pewter Phantom Belt Buckles we packaged in a black cloth pouch with a draw string at the top, with the word ‘PHANTOM’ in a silver color printed on one side.
