Origin of The Phantom Medallion Collection

The Origin of The Phantom Medallion Collection was produced by The Bradford Exchange in Australia in 2013. Fully licensed by King Features Syndicate, the Medallion Collection was exclusively marketed and sold in Australia and New Zealand.


The Bradford Exchange was established by J. Roderick MacArthur in 1973, a Chicago, USA based businessman and philanthropist. Initially focusing on providing limited-edition collector plates in the 1970’s, The Bradford Exchange quickly expanded it’s offering and not only provide limited-edition collectables, but a vast array of merchandise including dolls, figurines, home décor, fine Jewellery and even apparel. Today, The Bradford Exchange operates in 15 countries across Europe, New Zealand and Australia.


The Origin of The Phantom Medallion Collection contain the art of Sy Barry and were released one Medallion at a time, approximately one month apart. Color is found on the front of the Medallion, with the rest of the Medallion finished in a bronze metal. Each coin is titled and ties back to the Phantoms origin story. The first coin can be seen below and is titled ‘The Phantom’s Story Begins’.

A timber crafted presentation case was also produced and issued with the Medallion titled ‘The Sole Survivor’. Each Medallion was also accompanied by a booklet with commentary found within by Glenn Ford explaining the Medallions connection to the Phantoms origin story.
