Nerbini Promotional Poster

The Nerbini Promotional Poster was produced by Casa Editrice Nerbini in Italy in 1974. The poster was displayed at newsstands throughout Italy, promoting the release of a new comic book series, reprinting classic comic books previously released as supplement editions in the early years of publication by Casa Editrice Nerbini.

The poster is printed in full color measuring 51cm x 37cm, containing print only on the one side. The poster contains Italian text, which translates to; ‘NERBINI – COME BACK – for readers of YESTERDAY, TODAY, ALWAYS with the comic classics: Series of illustrated adventure books. Request the first TWO ISSUES here: THE BLACK GAUCHO’

The comic featured on the Nerbini Promotional Poster isn’t a Phantom comic. The comic is La Regina D’Atalanta, which was published by Casa Editrice Nerbini in September 1936 as a supplement comic book. The original version of this comic book can be seen below.

On the top margin of the Nerbini Promotional Poster, we see the various newspaper style publication published by Casa Editrice Nerbini containing comic strip stories. These editions contain a rich publishing history, dating back to the 1930’s. L’Avventuroso seen below on the top line, second from the left, was the first publication to contain a Phantom comic strip in Italy, appearing in September 1936.

We also see the publication Il Giornale Del L’Uomo Mascherato, which was first published in Italy in 1948, which features a profile image of the Phantom and Diana on all of its headers on the cover page. The Phantom is seen in his Italian red costume as shown below.
