To commemorate the National Conference of Comics, held in Florence, Italy in 1976, comic book publisher Nerbini produced a set of 6 stamps. Amongst the 6 comic book characters featured in the stamp series, we find characters such as Jungle Jim, Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician and the Phantom.

The one sided stamp sheet, measuring 7.5cm x 7.7cm, is printed in a non-gloss matt finish. The National Conference of Comics was held at the Florence Congress Palace in Florence, between the 19th and the 21st of March, 1976. The stamps are novelty stamps and not able to be used through the Italian postal system. The stamp sheet did however follow the same format of a government issued stamp sheet, with perforated holes around each stamp image and glue on the rear of the sheet. Each individual stamp measures 3.8cm x 2.5cm.
First Day Cover Stamp Postcards were also issued, with 2 novelty stamps issued alongside an Italian government issued stamp. A round ink stamp is also seen, custom designed for the National Conference of Comics event.
