Mustanaamio Coffee

Mustanaamio Coffee was released by TagRepublic in Finland in October 2024. The ground coffee was released in 3 different label designs, all created by ArkiDesign and sold online exclusively in Finland.


ArkiDesign was established in 2011 in Finland, specializing in design and product branding. The company is based in Helsinki, Finland working with a variety of companies across different industries.

ArkiDesign manufacture high-quality licensed merchandise for every day use with a focus on unique vibrant designs featuring domestic and international brands. Their collaborations with companies include the creation of product collections, updating images and maintaining heritage.

ArkiDesign products are sold on the TagRepublic website, which is owned and managed by the same creative team at ArkiDesign, still producing and selling merchandise to this day.


The unbranded craft coffee was sold in black plastic packaging bags designed to be opened from the top with a resealable strip. All coffee bags contain the same coffee content, 150g of 100% Arabica medium roast coffee which has been roasted and ground in Europe. All 3 label designs can be seen below.

Each of the Mustanaamio coffee bags have been given a different title, from left to right above we read ‘Kova Koville’ (which translates to ‘Hard For The Hard’), ‘Ukkosen Jylinä’ (which translates to ‘Thunder Thunder’) and ‘Nopeampi Kuin Salama’ (which translates to ‘Faster Than Lightening’).

The labels also notify us that the coffee is authorized by King Features Syndicate, seeing copyright and year of production information. We also see a play with the word ‘Coffee’ on the label, the words ‘Kahvi-Kaffe-Coffee’ are printed, which is coffee is 3 different languages, Finnish, Danish and English.
