The Phantom Laundry Detergent Cards were produced by Trygve Sommerfeldt in Norway in 1946. The set is made up of 16 cards, with a card believed to have of been issued complimentary with a box of laundry detergent, hence for the unofficial title of the card set amongst collectors.
The cards are printed in full color with a gloss finish measuring 2.25” x 3” per card, each individually numbered from 1 thru to 16. The rear of the laundry detergent cards are left blank, designed to be attached to a surface of choosing by it’s owner.
The Phantom is seen in a red costume, not common in Norway, as he’s traditionally published in a blue costume. Image on the cards are embossed and don’t sit flat as with traditional collector cards. The front and back of the 16 cards in the set can be seen below.

The laundry detergent cards contain a story scene per card, starting off with robbers stealing a case of cash from a bank on card 1, with the Phantom pursuing the robbers to retrieve the case, with the case returned to the bank on the final card, number 16. Diana Palmer and Devil both make an appearance.
A great deal of history on this set of cards is unknown by collectors, including who the artist of the cards is, why the Phantom is seen in a red costume and also why text on the cards is in English.
