The Fantomen Wall Calendar was produced by Pelikan Annonsbyra in Sweden in 1994. It exclusively features images by Swedish artist and writer Hans Lindahl, with a unique Phantom image seen for each month of the year, images found on the front covers of Fantomen comic books published in Sweden in the 1980s and 1990s. The Wall Calendar is for the full year of 1995 (January thru till December), fully licensed by King Features Syndicate.
Hans Lindahl is a Swedish comic book artist best known for his work on the Phantom, particularly in collaboration with the Scandinavian publisher Egmont in their Fantomen comic book series. Born on the 15th of October 1954, Lindahl began illustrating the Phantom in the early 1980s and quickly gained recognition for his dynamic, detailed artwork and dramatic storytelling. Over the years, he has written and illustrated numerous Phantom stories, often blending traditional adventure elements with darker, more atmospheric tones.
Lindahl is particularly praised for bringing a cinematic quality to his illustrations, often using strong contrasts, expressive character designs, and moody settings to heighten suspense and drama. His work helped redefine the visual tone of the Phantom in Scandinavia during the 1980s and 1990s, and he remains one of the most respected and influential artists in the history of the series. Beyond his contributions to the Phantom, Lindahl has also worked in advertising and other forms of illustration, but it is his legacy within the comic world that continues to be most celebrated.
The Fantomen Wall Calendar is printed in 4 tone colors on heavy stock paper measuring 42cm x 29.7cm in portrait format, with a metal spiral binding the pages to a cardboard backing. The Wall Calendar is designed to be hung on a wall via the binding at the top, with a page turned per month as the year goes by, revealing a new image illustrated by Hans Lindahl.
The Wall Calendar was produced with a vibrant blue and white front cover, with an image of a skull illustrated by Hans Lindahl prominently displayed.
