Fantomens Samlarserie (which translates to The Phantom Collector’s Series) was released by Serieförlaget in Sweden in 1951. Found throughout select Fantomen comics, usually printed on the back cover of the comic book, a series of cut-out pages of Swedish sports heroes illustrated by Åke Skiöld. Each sheet has a caricature on the front and a photo and text about each athlete on the back, with a total of 100 pages found in the series.
Fantomens Samlarserie pages were first released with Fantomen comic book number 8, published in 1951. The front cover of this edition shows a promotion for Fantomens Samlarserie.


This first edition came with the first 4 Fantomens Samlarserie pages from the series, with 2 located at the front of the comic and 2 at the back of the comic book, between the comics covers and body of the comic. Fantomens Samlarserie are usually printed on the back cover of the comic book. Fantomen edition number 26, published in 1951 can be seen below.



The front of the Fantomens Samlarserie pages are printed in color, with black and white printed on the back, designed to be cut out of the comic book. Each page contains a number with all illustration signed by Åke SkiöldAn on the front and a short biography alongside a photo picture on the back, of the Swedish sports player featured.
An album to house the 100 Fantomens Samlarserie pages was released by Serieförlaget named ‘Fantomens Serietidningen Samlarserie’, which translates to ‘The Phantoms Comic Book Collector’s Series’. After the Fantomens Samlarserie pages are removed from the Fantomen comic book, they’re to be hole-punched and inserted into the album via 2 metal screws in the spine, capable of housing all 100 pages.




These albums were advertised in several Fantomen comic books in conjunction with a contest. Below we see an advertisement in Fantomen edition number 19, published in 1951 on the inside front cover. A small payment was required to be posted to the publisher, before an album was provided.
