Fantomen PVC Figure

The Phantom 50th Anniversary figure was first released in Sweden in 1986.

We first see this figure being advertised on the back of an ‘Extra’ special cover attached to Fantomen number 12, 1986 (see below left). The attachment is titled ‘Fantomendagen Pa Gronan’, as can be seen on the right below.

Below is the advertisement which appeared on the back cover of the supplement ‘Fantomendagen Pa Gronan’.

The Fantomen comic with the special cover titled ‘Fantomendagen Pa Gronan’ was distributed at the Gröna Lund theme/amusement park in Stockholm on ‘Phantom Day’, on the 12th of June, 1986. This figure was available both at the park and via a mail order offer.

The Gröna Lund theme/amusement park was founded by James Schultheiss in 1883 and is located just outside of Stockholm Sweden.

The Phantom figure was released by ‘Bulls’, measuring 6” x 3”, made from solid PVC plastic and is colored blue (the color the Phantom is printed in Sweden).

Although visually the figure’s look the same, 4 different individual identification markings at the rear can be found throughout the various years they were available to the public.
