The Fantomen Fake Phantom Contest was held by Semic Press in Sweden in 1960. The contest required the reader to select the correct Phantom from a selection of two Phantom illustrations. The front cover of edition number 9 containing the contest can be seen below.

Found on the inside back cover of the comic book, we see a full page advertisement promoting the contest. The contest was held only in this edition, requiring the reader to look closely at two illustrations of the Phantom and selecting the version containing the correct image. A coupon was then required to be posted to the publisher with the correct answer written on the coupon, with the entrants address details. The Fantomen Fake Phantom Contest on the inside back cover of the comic book can be seen below.

Translated to English, the contest page reads:
Can you reveal…
THE FAKE PHANTOM?
One day a figure came up to us and introduced himself as the Phantom. At first we were very surprised by the unexpected visit, but then we realized that he was fake. Then we thought we would put our readers on the wrong track, so we took a picture of him and a picture of the real Phantom. You can see the pictures here. Now we wonder if you can tell us which of the two is the FAKE PHANTOM?
Write your answer on the coupon and send it to Fantomen’s competition editor, Box 3268, Stockholm 3. We must have the solutions by September 8th at the latest. Don’t forget to mark the envelope with “Falske Fantomen”
100 KRONER IN PRIZES!
