The Defensores Da Terra (which translates to Defenders of the Earth) Calendar Trading Card set was produced by Impala – Soc. Editorial Lda. in Portugal in 1988. The set is made up of 81 cards and is themed around the Defenders of the Earth cartoon series produced in 1986, featuring the Phantom, Mandrake the Magician, Flash Gordon and Ming the Merciless.

Impala – Soc. Editorial Lda. produced numerous Calendar Trading Card sets in the late 1980’s featuring a variety of topics, including cartoon characters, celebrities, sporting icons and animals. The cartoon characters featured include Masters of the Universe, My Little Pony, Asterix, Thunder Cats and more.

The Calendar Trading Card sets feature an image on the front, depending on the topic of the set, with a full years calendar on the reverse. Each card is also numbered on the reverse, with some general information provided on the image at the front of the card.

The Defensores Da Terra Calendar Trading Card set is fully licensed by King Features Syndicate, with each card measuring 4″ x 2.75″ in full color on both sides. A sample of cards found within the set can be seen below.

The calendar printed on the reverse of each card is for the full year of 1989. A card number is also found on the reverse of the card, plus some general information on the image found on the front of the card.
