The Defenders of the Earth School Bags were produced by Leopard in Italy in 1986. The School Bags are fully licensed by King Features Syndicate. They’re themed around the Defenders of the Earth cartoon series released in 1985.

The first Defenders of the Earth School Bag is made of red Nylon material with 2 images seen at the front of the bag. The first image is the cartoons logo which features Lothar, Mandrake the Magician, Flash Gordon and the Phantom. The second image is the abbreviation ‘DOE’, standing for ‘Defenders of the Earth’. Adjustable shoulder straps are seen at the rear with a carry handle found at the top of the bag. The flip-open flap at the front is secured with 2 black clips.

Two labels are attached to the bag, a cardboard detachable tag, plus a sewn-in cloth tag at the rear.

The second Defenders of the Earth School Bag is made of black Nylon material with 2 images seen at the front of the bag. The first image is the cartoons logo which features Lothar, Mandrake the Magician, Flash Gordon and the Phantom. The second image is the abbreviation ‘DOE’, standing for ‘Defenders of the Earth’. An adjustable shoulder strap is attached to both sides of the bag. The flip-open flap at the front is secured with 1 black clip.
