Cristalyn Keyrings

The Cristalyn Keyrings were produced in Italy in the late 1970s. A set of 4 Key Rings make up a set, with only the Phantom, Mandrake the Magician and Lothar featured. The Key Rings are licensed by King Features Syndicate and their license holder in Italy at the time, Opera Mundi.

The Cristalyn Keyrings were sold in retail stores in a countertop box containing 35 Key Rings. A perforated section in the lid allowed the lit to double as a presentation sign, allowing the Cristalyn Keyrings to standout amongst other products. As characters from the Phantom and Mandrake the Magician storyline are featured, only images of the Phantom, Mandrake the Magician and Lothar are found throughout the countertop box.

The Cristalyn Keyrings are made of solid see-through plastic, square in shape with rounded corners, with the same image printed on both sides. The retail box provided to retailer outlets contains a mix of Key Rings with either a silver ring at the top or a silver ring and a plastic colored spring-clip at the top. Both versions can be seen below, with only the plastic colored spring-clip varying between the two.

The Cristalyn Keyring featuring the Phantom can be seen below, with an image of the Phantom with crossed arms found on both sides. We also see a heading reading ‘Phantom’ plus copyright wording ‘KFS / Opera Mundi’. Interestingly, the Phantom is seen in his purple costume and not red as he’s traditionally published in Italy.
