Comic-Con: The Cruise Patch Set

The Comic-Con: The Cruise patch set was created by Comic-Con: The Cruise in the United States in 2024. This exclusive patch set was available solely at the inaugural cruise, which was themed after a comic convention event and is fully licensed by King Features Syndicate.

Comic-Con: The Cruise made its inaugural voyage departing from Tampa, Florida, USA on the 5th of February 2025, making a stop at Cozumel, Mexico on the 7th of February 2025 before returning back to Tampa, Florida, USA on the 9th of February 2025. This four-day adventure at sea was an official licensee of Comic-Con International, aiming to fuse the iconic Comic-Con experience with a uniquely fan-focused cruise. It offered an unparalleled fan-focused environment with exclusive and intimate access, allowing attendees to rub shoulders with beloved Comic-Con stars and creators who stepped off the stage and screen to dine, party, and interact with guests.

The cruise was packed with a diverse range of activities and experiences designed for pop culture enthusiasts. Guests could enjoy live performances, panel discussions, celebrity Q&A sessions, meet-and-greets, and autograph and photograph opportunities. There were also themed cosplay parties, competitive video and tabletop gaming, next-level trivia contests, and an Artists’ Alley showcasing various comic artists. The ship itself provided ample amenities, including a casino, rock climbing wall, mini-golf, spa, and a variety of dining options, ensuring a balance of planned fandom events and relaxation.

A notable roster of talent joined the 2025 cruise, including guest host Felicia Day, and stars such as Warwick Davis, George Takei, Ernie Hudson, Mary McDonnell, Tricia Helfer, and Amy Jo Johnson, among others. The event also celebrated the 25th anniversaries of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, weaving these beloved franchises into the onboard festivities.

King Features Syndicate played a significant role in the event by showcasing three of its iconic comic strip characters: the Phantom, Flash Gordon, and Popeye. A collection comprising three distinct patches was created, one for each character. These patches were made available for purchase aboard the cruise ship, packaged in a cardboard box measuring 28cm x 15cm, featuring a transparent window on the top to display the three patches.

Upon the removal of the lift-off lid, the three patches are found positioned within a tray crafted from vibrantly colored fabric. These patches are intended for attachment to garments, whether by hand or utilizing a sewing machine.
