Classic Comic Characters Statue

The Classic Comic Character Statue collection was produced by Dark Horse Comics in USA from 2000 thru till 2003. Over this time, 47 Statues were released in limited quantities, with production numbers altering:

  • Statue number 1-3 – 550 produced
  • Statue number 4-7 – 750 produced
  • Statue number 8-17 – 950 produced
  • Statue number 18-43 – 600 produced
  • Statue number 44-47 – 550 produced

Dark Horse Comics was founded by Mike Richardson in USA in 1986. Richardson pursued the idea of establishing an ideal atmosphere for creative professionals across a variety of mediums, successfully producing a large array of licensed pop culture collectibles, including comics, books, statues, figures and more.

Dark Horse Comics has grown to become the third-largest comics publisher in the United States, still in operation to this day.

    The Phantom Classic Comic Character Statue is number 4 in the series produced by Dark Horse Comics, sculpted by Craig Yoe Studio Inc and distributed by Diamond Comic Distributors, released on the 12th of July, 2000. The figure is inspired by the Syroco statuettes which were produced by Multi-Products, Inc. in Chicago, USA in 1944.

    The Statue is produced from poly-resin and measure 5.5” in height. They were packaged in a shrink-wrap full color litho-printed tin container with a lid before being sold by Dark Horse Comics. The statue is placed in molded plastic then in foam padding within the tin, which also contains a certificate of authenticity, a Phantom booklet and a vintage-style 1.25″ pinback button of the Phantom.

    Each of the 750 Phantom Statues stand on a base with the title of the character shown, ‘The Phantom’ and are all hand numbered on the underside of the base.

    The characters found in the Classic Comic Character Statue series are Krazy Kat, Popeye, Prince Valiant, The Phantom, Ignatz, Olive Oyl, Mandrake the Magician, Li’l Abner, Daisy Mae, Dick Tracy, Beetle Bailey, Sarge, Little Orphan Annie, Flash Gordon, Terry and Dragon Lady of Terry And The Pirates, Feerless Fosdick, Felix the Cat, Dagwood, Blondie, Smokey Stover, Wimpy, Bluto, Pogo, Albert, Nancy, Sluggo, Alley Oop, Little Nemo, The Yellow Kid, Shmoo, Little Lulu, Tubby, The Spirit, Tarzan, Ming the Merciless, Jeep, Offissa Pupp, Buck Rogers, Wilma Deering, Popeye (version 2), Alice the Goon, Gasoline Alley, Lone Ranger, Tonto, Dennis the Menace and Barney Google.
