Catalogo Del Tebeo Espanol

The Catalogo Del Tebeo Espanol (which translates to Spanish Comic Book Catalog) cards were produced by Saturnino Beitia and Armando Illera in Madrid, Spain from 1983 thru till 1998. The card series features the front covers of comic books published in Spain, serving as a form of reference for the collector to refer back to when requiring information on a particular comic book series.

A total of 1360 Catalogo Del Tebeo Espanol cards were released featuring approximately 140 different comic book characters, with approximately 9 cards dedicated to each character. A year and card number aren’t printed on the card series, however the producer of the series is noted as ‘Beitia & Illera’.

Each card is printed in color measuring 9cm x 13cm. The front of the card features an image of a comic book, with the back of the card containing information relating to the comic book series featured. Information printed in Spanish includes the title of the series, publisher, year of publication, numbers of comics in the series, writer, artist, measurements, genre, and the characters featured.

Phantom comic books are found on 9 of the Catalogo Del Tebeo Espanol cards in the series, all editions published in Spain under his local title of El Hombre Enmascerado. Edition number 1 comic books from their respective series are printed on the front of the card. The front and back of these 9 cards can be seen below.

The Catalogo Del Tebeo Espanol cards were distributed in blue print paper envelopes, which feature an illustration of a group of comic book characters, with the Phantom seen amongst them.
